5 Simple Ways to Boost Your Mental Health


If you're like me then you may have struggled with your mental health over the years. But these feelings of worry, stress and depression are new to a lot of people due to all the trauma that the global pandemic has brought on. 

So, here’s 5 simple things you can do today to benefit your mental health:

 🧺 TIDY UP THE SPACE AROUND YOU

It’s true what they say: tidy space, tidy mind. Having a clean home or an organised space is proven to make you happier. It can be as simple as making your bed in the morning. I’ve started tidying up at the end of the day to prevent being overwhelmed in the mornings.

🍉 EAT YOUR VEGGIES & DRINK LOTS OF WATER

Make sure you are eating plenty of fruit and vegetables. Dark, leafy green vegetables are especially good for your brain.

Drinking enough water is also an important step in managing your anxiety. Water has natural calming properties. I now carry a reusable water bottle with me everywhere I go. It’s great for me and the environment.

🧖🏼‍♀️ DO A SOCIAL MEDIA CLEAN UP 

Unfollow accounts and delete friends who no longer align with you. I’ve decided to unfollow all celebrities because life felt impossible when I was constantly comparing myself to sponsored posts and photos that a whole team of people had worked on.

📱 SET YOURSELF DAILY LIMITS OF SCREEN TIME 

This can be a little tricky if you’re addicted to your phone but you can set daily limits on most apps. The best thing I’ve ever done was to turn off all push notifications. Now I have to actively open Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Gmail etc to receive notifications. It’s stopped me from picking up my phone 1000 times a day. 

💌 UNSUBSCRIBE FROM ALL THE EMAILS THAT FILL UP YOUR INBOX 

Think about what you’re interested in right now and feed those thoughts. I’m obsessed with shopping small so most of my emails are from independent retailers and bloggers. I’m no longer receiving constant ads from fast fashion brands and take away restaurants.
